最上川（もがみがわ）は、山形県を代表する大河で、日本三大急流の一つに数えられます。内陸から日本海へ注ぐ全長229kmの流れは、古くから舟運を支え、江戸期には物資の輸送路として大いに発展しました。松尾芭蕉が『奥の細道』で「五月雨を あつめて早し 最上川」と詠んだことでその名は広く知られています。本デザインでは、最上川の雄大さを背景に、ハローキティが可愛らしく旅情を表現したご当地アイテムとなっています。
